For anyone active on the Amiga demoscene back in the 90s, Space Debris by Captain is one of those classics that everybody has heard. A four-channel dry masterpiece created in ProTracker one rainy weekend in Finland in 1991. And since my thing is basically remixing my childhood, this eventually had to be done. Here it is.

It was made in FLStudio 20 Producer Edition with these VST instruments:

• Reveal Sound Spire
• Lennar Digital Sylenth1
• Xfer Records Cthulhu
• Spectrasonics Omnisphere

Started off recreating the pitch-bended synth you hear in the intro, and started from there. I was initially going to add vocals and sing the song, but decided after a while that it would ruin the smooth mellow atmosphere I had going. So I edited out some voice samples from Bob Pariseu introducing the Amiga computer at a conferance in the Lincoln Center in 1985, which just made the thing come alive for me and justified plowing on with the song. I included the speech in the music video as well.

Fun fact, I had to edit out those voice samples for it to be allowed on streaming services, so you get a slightly different version on Spotify and such. But on this site you get the full thing for free download ofcourse. My favorite Amiga game is probably Lemmings, so I used FX from those games in one of the transitions. I had a lot of fun making this one, and I think it’s one of my better efforts.

Space Debris by Captain is the song. An absolute classic on the Amiga demoscene. Created by Markus Kaarlonen in 1991 in ProTracker.
