The Lore

Synthwave. Cyberpunk synthwave. That is what I wanted to make. Always loved the genre. And the original gangster there has to be Blade Runner. Specifically the end titles to the first Blade Runner by Vangelis. But that is all there is to this one.

How it was made

It was made in FLStudio 20 Producer Edition with these VST instruments:

Got it all nailed down with futuristic pads, nice melodies, a comfortable rolling bassline and some wide stereo work. Very fun. For the voice samples, I found them on a Youtube channel called LAPD Nexus-9 Blade Runner Division which by now has been deleted for some reason. The original video has been re-uploaded to this channel though, so you can check it out there. Anyway, I edited the parts I liked for that and made a call and response kind of thing where I included a very replicant sounding replicant voice through some heavy effect work. And ofcourse made a nice music video with footage from both Blade Runner and Blade Runner 2049. All in all a fun project to tinker with.

Blade Runner (End Titles) by the greek demigod legend Vangelis is the one. Originally made for Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner in 1982. Fun fact, the most prominently used synthesizer in this score was the Yamaha CS-80. He also used the Jupiter-4 and the Prophet 10 among many others. This dude had all the hardware.
