My favorite retro console of all time is Playst… no it is not … Nintendo 64. Yes the Nintendo 64 is where it was at. What a box of absolute joy that was. I cover two games from that machine here. That is Blast Corps and Banjo Kazooie. Hour and hours of fun with that. So I guess I decided to some remixing.

It was made in FLStudio 4 with these VST instruments:

• Image-Line SimSynth

The big thing here ofcourse was trying to emulate banjo and fiddle. The long since dicontinued Edirol Orchestra supplied the basis for that. But I never quite managed to nail the banjo. But when we get to the fiddle break at 0:47 I remember feeling I naaailed that. I showed it off to everyone who would listen. Right combination of reverb and delay and whatever else I slapped on. I really love how that turned out. The rest of the song is messy and ancient, not much to report on that front. But as a learning experience this one was huge for me.

Main song covered here is “Simian Acres” from the 1997 game Blast Corps made by Rare. Composed by Graeme Norgate. The last part of the song is from Banjo Kazooie, also by Rare and released in 1998. The covered song is “Main Titles” composed by Grant Krikhope. He also made the baaangers from GoldenEye 007.
