The Lore

Do you remember the science fiction tv-show Farscape? Yes? No? Hopefully you do, because it doesnt get talked about nearly as much as it should. Hidden gem. Anyway, this song has nothing to do with it at all. But I had been binging the show and was in kind of a space exploration headspace. So with that in mind, I decided to remix one of my old favorites from the demoscene and have a little fun.

How it was made

It was made in FLStudio 8 with these VST instruments:

I remember having fun with trying out and creating different types of classic trance arpeggios on this one. Also the main “pling” synth was something I heard in a song called called “Röyksopp – Eple” which was popular at the time. The narration voice in the middle is sampled from the documentary “Journeys to the Edge of Creation: The Milky Way and Beyond“. Timestamp on the link is 12:30 if you want to hear it.

The song it is based on

“Hymne to Aurora by Horace Wimp. Definitely one of my favorite tracker tunes of all time. I have listened to it and learned from it countless times over the years. Horace Wimp was a swedish scener who were part of the scandinavian demoscene group Aurora that was active in the early 90s. Have a listen or download the MOD here.
