What can I say? Should I apologize? One dark and windy november night in southern Norway a boy decided it would be a good idea to remix some Robbie Williams. Not only that, why not take one of his best ballads and turn it into semi-cheezy early FLStudio eurotrash? The boy did not care. He got to work. The world needs this.

It was made in FLStudio 4 with these VST instruments:

• Image-Line FL keys
• Image-Line Sytrus
• Image-Line Wasp
• Image-Line SimSynth
• Image-Line Soundfont Player

So this was the first time I tried to rip vocals off a cd. Might have been an mp3. A finished published song is my point. As will become obvious as you listen through the song, I did not succeed in ripping off the complete vocals. The problem when you jank it like that in 2004 is that you can only get the quiet and semi-quiet parts – anything noisy will not work. But I obviously wanted to do this and powered through. I use the clean parts I have and repeat them where needed. Vocals are slightly sped up as well – and everything is made with stock early FLStudio instruments.

Just as an FYI. This was just as much learning to use a modern DAW as it was making actual music to be released for human ears. I am just putting it out here as part of the entire journey. It might be shit but it’s my shit.

Also, the tricks I learned making this I applied to From Paris to Berlin Redux a few months later, which turned out much better. Learning is fun.

Robbie Williams was the Justin Bieber of our time. Or was he? Actually hell no. Maybe Justin Timberlake fit that description better. Williams was cool, and had pretty catchy songs. Sing-a-long sessions at every party for years. The song I remix here is ofcourse Feel from the album Life Thru a Lens from 1997.
