The Lore

I had just finished Final Fantasy VI and was in the mood to make something from Final Fantasy. And if you have played the game, you remember the intro very well when “Terra’s Theme” is introduced for the first time. Sets the mood for the game absolutely perfectly. So that was it. After writing lyrics for it I figured my own voice would just suck on this, so I actually brought on a singer for the first time.

Who is Oliviya?

Oliviya Nicole is a singer-songwriter from Bulgaria. She even got all the way up as a finalist in The Voice in her home country and ended up in third. She was very easy and fun to work with and the whole thing went smoothly. Since we made this she has made a new website and are available for booking to various things. Also check out her YouTube channel. Maybe we’ll do another one with her down the line.

How it was made

It was made in FLStudio 20 Producer Edition with these VST instruments:

The whole thing for me with this one was mixing in the vocal stems I received from Olivya. I had never worked with someones voice before, so the whole back and forth process with her was the fun thing for me. Got it nailed and got it mixed in nice. Song itself became mellow vocal trance with very few surprises. Played it relatively safe here. I want to do a new version some time actually. I kinda fucked up the mastering.

Nobuo Uematsu needs no introduction to those who know. But for those who dont, he is the composer of the soundtrack for basically every single Final Fantasy game ever released. That is a looot of memorable tunes. The tune we cover here is ofcourse Terra’s Theme from Final Fantasy VI. Starts at 4:10 in the video.
