I listened to the nightcore version of this when I was around 10, this song still plays in my head anytime Pirates is brought up and Im 20 now. I’m not sure if your channel is still active, but I just want to say thanks for making such a genuinely creative and catchy song that’s stuck with me for nearly 10 years!

The Lore

This is by far my most listened to track on the streaming platforms. Guess I did something right on this one. Started out with me hearing another remix of this theme, and I just wanted to see if I could top that by doing one on my own – just with some added vocals. So I got to work on the lyrics and ended up with the catchy but rediculous text we have today. And as usual I did the vocals myself with my subpar raspy voice. And no, it’s not “take your pants off”. Stop it. You stop it now.

How it was made

It was made in FLStudio 8 with these VST instruments:

Oh man I struggled with this one. I do not know what I found so hard about it, but the rythm of the original melody just did not fit EDM. I tried so many different things until I nailed what you hear here. It was laughably easy once I figured it out. Programmed some military drums for the background and layered the melody to sound slightly more energetic when repeated the second time in the chorus. For the break I came up with an entirely new melody just to space things out a bit.

The vocals were recorded on a RØDE NTA-1 and edited in Melodyne. I know I was working on a remix of “The Portal Song” from the game Portal at the same time as this one, so I kinda applied the same voice-technique I discovered for that in this one. Making it kinda robotic with unnatural modulation and intonations. Turned out weird enough. Sampled some voice acting from the movies for the drop and transitions.

And to finish it off I thought it would be fun to do what I did with the Mario theme in Forever Gamer – so I decided it would be a good idea to slow it all down and close it out with the Davy Jones theme. And that’s that.
