This one is just strange to me—I still don’t understand how it came about. Back in 2000, I made a tracker song called Generation, which this track is supposedly a remix of—or so I thought. Then in 2007, I made another version called A Soldier’s Story, which was basically Generation again, but with some very cringe, ill-advised, painful, clueless and unfortunate vocals about the Vietnam War.

Both versions sound somewhat similar to “The Lonely One” by Alice Deejay—especially this one. That track was originally released in September 2000, the same year I made “Generation.” I honestly can’t remember ever intentionally remixing Alice Deejay, but the evidence stacked against me here makes it hard to believe it’s just a coincidence. Guilty as hell. Lock me up. I’m still confused about it. Oh well.

Production wise this one is pretty advanced actually. There is a lot going on. Many layers and many melodies. I think I made the mix a pretty comfortable listen actually. For the transitions in here I have the “RESIDENT EVIL” voice-line by Ward E. Sexton from the original game on the Playstation. The rest of the vocals are ripped from the introduction to the movie Resident Evil by mr. Slytherin himself – Jason Isaacs.

Well apparantly it is indeed a cover version of The Lonely One by Alice Deejay. It came out in september 2000. For those not in the know Alice Deejay served up quite a few hits that was a staple at every part back in the late 90’s and early ’00s. Like Better Off Alone and Back in My Life. What almost nobody knows is that she was in fact created by DJ Jurgen, which also had a bunch of hits – like Higher and Higher.
