10 years, eh? I’d say this is pretty freakin’ good for a ten year old track, dude. I simply love the chord progression in it, the beginning reminds me a bit of the melody for Sanxion, then at about 1:14 it turns into something more along the lines of O-zone or even a little pop-ish, like N-sync. OHH, and then it goes full blown trance, simply awesome man! I love this track a lot!

The Lore

Being a kid in the 90s was the beeest. You had all the great movies. All of them. Don Simpson, Jerry Bruckheimer and Michael Bay just kept pumping them out. The most manliest most epic shit ever put on the screen. And ofcourse The Rock from 1996 was one of them. And the music was as good as it gets. A remix just had to be done.

How it was made

It was made in FLStudio 4 with these VST instruments:

So what can I say about something I did two decades ago? The project file is long gone. But, there are some things to report. A friend of mine named Roar Winnem did one of the vocal samples in here. “Welcome to the Rock”. I believe that was recorded on one of those incredibly thin 90s desktop microphones from Compaq or whatever. High tech. We both loved this movie, and this melody.

The song it is based on

Hans Zimmer and Nick Glennie-Smith did the soundtrack for The Rock (1996), and the specific tune we cover here is Hummel Gets a Rocket. Zimmer used instruments from Euphonix, Steinberg Cubase, Yamaha, Fairlight to create the score. Pretty sure it is one of the more badass soundtracks from back then. Quality over the top stuff.
