The Lore

Once upon a time back in 2012 we were running a fansite for the upcoming new MMO from Blizzard. It was called Project Titan. It was supposed to be the next big thing after World of Warcraft. But the months dragged on without any news or snippets of promising info. And it ended up cancelled, and turned into Overwatch after a while. Fuck me ammirite. But while this was going on – the desperation for content made us decide to do this song about our troubles.

How it was made

It was made in Adobe Audition CS6.

As far as I can remember, this fun little project is more or less straight karaoke. No music was made or even edited. We used an instrumental called Working Class Hero (Originally Performed by Green Day) – Instrumental Version by Hit The Button Karaoke. We wrote the lyrics and recorded the vocals. Since I live in southern Norway and Øystein lives further north, we had to do all this over Skype, back and forth. But we got the harmonies done and little adlibs. All good fun.

We did the same thing when it came to making the music video. I have still not decided if this song is cringe, fun or awesome or bad yet. Whatever it is, an honest attempt at entertainment was made. And we had a good time doing it.

Who is NerdRage? In his own words.

Hello! I’m Epikk, formerly known as NerdRage. I’m just a regular guy who enjoys gaming and music. You could say “I’m a gamer forever. I’m gaming whatever”, hehe.

I met Eirik through a game called Star Wars: The Old Republic (if my memory serves me right). We gamed together and talked shit together with the community we formed on a forum that Eirik hosted, called Star Wars Norge (there might’ve been a forum before that as well but I can’t remember). Later, we moved on to Project Titan, which, as we all know, ended up being a huge disappointment for MMORPG lovers.

We share a common interest in gaming and producing music, which eventually led to us “creating” this song. And yes, it is most definitely cringe, but we had a blast making it. So, who cares?

The song is ofcourse Working Class Hero by Green Day. At least the version we cover here is by Green Day, the original is in fact written and performen by John Lennon. It was originally released in 1970, right after Lennon left The Beatles. I bet our silly version will have exactly the same impact on society as the original did.
